Sports

Eligibility Criteria

1.       History and achievements in the sport

2.       Performance task during the video-conferencing

3.       Evidence of passion/ talent/ interest

4.       Possesses good academic results for P5 overall Examination or its equivalent

Mode of selection

Online interview via video conferencing

Shortlisted students will need to go through an online interview that consists of two parts -

 Part 1: E-Performance Task (a video sample of the tasks will be made available prior to the interview)

 Part 2: An interview conducted by a panel of teachers

Programmes, activities and/or opportunities that students can expect to participate in for each DSA-Sec talent

Science Communications and Research (SCoRe)

Selection Criteria

  1. History of participation in science-related activities in and beyond primary school
  2. Teachers‘ recommendation
  3. History of team-based collaboration
  4. Evidence of passion and interest in Science
  5. Possesses good academic results for P5 overall Examination or its equivalent

Mode of selection

Online interview via video conferencing

Shortlisted students will need to go through an online interview that consists of two parts -

 Part 1: Laboratory Simulation (applicants will be required to collaborate and analyse a Science experiment)

 Part 2: An interview conducted by a panel of teachers

Programmes, activities and/or opportunities that students can expect to participate in for each DSA-Sec talent

Service Leadership

Selection Criteria

1. Holds leadership roles in student leadership bodies (eg. prefectorial board, student council, class committees)

2. Displays leadership skills in service to school and community (eg. led in class VIA activity, co-organise cohort/ class activity)

3. Displays interest and passion in service and community-related activities outside of school*

4.  Demonstrates exemplary character and leadership

5. Possesses good academic results for P5 overall Examination or its equivalent

Online interview for shortlisted applicants via video conferencing

 

In the event that you have provided information for non-school based activities and achievements which are related to the areas of service leadership, submission of certified true copies of certificates/ documentary proof will be required from shortlisted applicants on the /interview day.

Application & Selection Process

All applicants must be eligible for Secondary One admission in 2021.

Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 12 May 2020 to 5 Jun 2020, closing time at 3pm. For more details, please refer to MOE website – www.moe.gov.sg/dsa-sec.

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school, and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for from year 1-4.



For International Students

All international students who are considering DSA-Sec admission are required to take part in the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS). For details, please refer to the AEIS website at - https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/international-students/admissions-exercise

 For Other Applicants

Applicants who are not currently studying in MOE mainstream primary schools must obtain a registration number from the MOE Customer Service Centre (CSC) from 5 May, 9am to 2 Jun 2020, 3pm. Parents/ guardians who are unable to apply online can approach their child’s primary school for assistance.  

Returning Singaporeans and International Students applying to Jurong Secondary School will have to sit for a JSS Entrance Test, and score passes in English, Mathematics and Science.


Other information:

1. There is no need to submit any supporting documents during the online application stage. Your child's primary school records (for example, P5 and P6 academic results, CCA, school-based activities, achievements or awards) will be automatically shared with the schools. You may provide information for up to 10 non-school based activities and achievements which are related to your child's chosen talent areas.

2. An applicant can indicate up to 3 choices. Each choice consists of a secondary school and a talent area offered by the secondary school.  Of the 3 choices, an applicant may use a maximum of 2 choices to apply to the same school, for two different talent areas of that school.

3. The following supporting documents may have to be provided – 

    • Certified true copies or documentary proof of non-school based activities and achievements.
    • Certified true copies of school academic results and activities / achievements for applicants NOT studying in MOE mainstream schools.

4. Notification of outcome by school (Monday 14 September 2020) –
Applicants will be notified of the outcomes by 14 September. The school’s decision is final. The school reserves the right not to release the reasons for non-selection of applicants.

5. Exercise School Preference (26 to 30 October 2020) –

All applicants with a Confirmed Offer (CO), or who are on the Waiting List (WL) of a school, will be issued a School Preference Form by MOE through their primary schools. The form will include instructions on how to submit your child’s preferences.

6. Fill out the School Preference Form with your child, listing a maximum of 3 schools in order of preference. Parents can submit their child’s school preference(s) either electronically via the DSA-Sec Internet System or physically at their child’s primary school. Students should consider carefully before opting for the DSA schools. Students can only amend or withdraw their submitted school preferences before the end of this stage. Any amendment or withdrawal from the exercise will not be allowed after this stage.

7. Successful DSA-Sec applicant will receive their results on the school they are allocated to, via their primary schools, on the day they receive their PSLE results.
